News Clubbed Thumb Summerworks Fest, Featuring Tony Nominee Dizzia, Begins June 6 The Clubbed Thumb's Summerworks Festival, featuring plays by Kate E. Ryan, Anne Washburn and Samuel D. Hunter, begins June 6 at the Ohio Theatre.

Running through June 26, the Summerworks Festival boasts Tony Award nominee Maria Dizzia in Washburn's The Small. Dizzia reunites with her In the Next Room director Les Waters for the limited run.

Dot launches the series June 6-12. Anne Kauffman (This Wide Night, The Thugs) directs the work that features original music by Mike Iveson (Gatz) and a cast including David Brooks, Kate Hopkins, Birgit Huppuch, Ed Jewett, Lynne McCollough and Mary Shultz.

According to Clubbed Thumb, "Old Dot and the weird kid from the neighborhood become friends. Set in that kind of Florida town that makes you wonder: Is this TV, a book, or maybe even a cabaret?"

Davis McCallum (Queens Boulevard) directs Five Genocides, running June 13-19. The cast features Charlotte Booker, Crystal Finn, Barrett O’Brien, Carmen M. Herlihy and Edward James Hyland.

"Katie is determined to finish writing that book – even if she didn’t start it. Lucky there’s a new co-worker at the Fashion Bug to help since her in-laws are deluded, drunk and dog-obsessed," read Clubbed Thumb production notes. Dizzia, a 2010 Tony nominee for her work in Sarah Ruhl's In the Next Room or the vibrator play, leads the cast of The Small, which also features Gideon Banner, Matthew Maher, Dave Malloy and Susie Pourfar. Waters directs the production, with music by Dave Malloy, that runs June 20-26.

Clubbed Thumb states, "A man struggles to assemble a reality from his dreams, the dog very much wants to be taken for a walk and the Natural Food store isn’t."
