Classic Arts News Collapsing Set Brings Copenhagen Aida to a Halt A performance at the Copenhagen Opera House was canceled after a piece of scenery fell on English tenor David Rendall earlier this week, the Copenhagen Post reports.
Rendall, performing the part of Radams in Verdi's Aida, was unharmed when a portion of papier mê¢ch_ ceiling crashed down and buried him, but was, according to Royal Theater director Michael Christiansen, "so shocked..that he could not complete the performance."

The fallen portion was part of the crypt into which Radams follows his lover, Aida, who is going to be buried alive there. According to the Post, the accident happened because of a lodged wheel in the scene machinery.
