Betty Comden and Adolph Green, the preternaturally perky lyricists-about town, will be saluted April 15-17 as part of the Manhattan 92nd Street Y's "Lyrics and Lyricists" series.
Hosting the tribute is critic Rex Reed (filmdom’s “Myra Breckenridge”). Scheduled to appear are KT Sullivan, Terri Klausner, Jan Neuberger, Jeff Harner, Mark Hardy, Polly Bergen and Billy Stritch.
Comden and Green have written numerous musicals, included Wonderful Town and On the Town with Leonard Bernstein; On the Twentieth Century and The Will Rogers Follies with Cy Coleman; and Bells Are Ringing with Jule Styne. For the movies, they penned "Singin' in the Rain" and "The Band Wagon." They have recently seen Broadway revivals of their On the Town and Peter Pan; a new production of Bells Are Ringing is due next season. They even revived their cabaret act last year at Joe's Pub.
Tickets are $40. The 92nd Street Y is at 92nd Street and Lexington in New York. For information, call 9212) 996-1100.
