TACT Theatre and Gingold Theatrical Group will present Widowers' Houses Off-Broadway next month. The 1892 drama was the first play ever written by celebrated playwright and Nobel Prize winner George Bernard Shaw.

The production, helmed by David Staller, will begin March 1 at The Beckett Theatre @ Theatre Row, with an official opening scheduled for March 13. Performances will run through April 2.

The play was penned by Shaw when he was a young arts journalist, written in response to a dare by a fellow critic. It follows the story of a man who uncovers a secret about his family-to-be and is forced to choose between his love and his ideals.

Widowers' Houses will feature Jeremy Beck (The Cocktail Party), Jonathan Hadley (Rothschild & Sons), Hanna Cheek (The Persians…a comedy about war with five songs), Terry Layman (Cat On a Hot Tin Roof), Talene Monahon (Encores! The Wild Party) and John Plumpis (The Man Who Had All the Luck.)

The production will also have scenic design by Brian Prather, lighting design by Peter West, costume design by Barbara A. Bell, sound design by Toby Jaguar Algya and prop design by Lytza Colon. Kelly Burns serves as production stage manager, with Cate DiGirolamo as production manager.

Tickets can be purchased online at Telecharge.com or by calling (800) 872-8997. The Beckett Theatre @ Theatre Row is located at 410 W. 42nd St., Manhattan.
