Aaron Kelly was eliminated from this season's "American Idol" — often a stepping stone to the Broadway stage — May 5 following a public vote. The announcement was made during the live broadcast of the country's biggest singing competition.

Michael Lynche was the other contestant who received the lowest votes of the week.

For this week's competition, the finalists, who performed the songs of Frank Sinatra, were mentored by Harry Connick, Jr.

The four contestants who are currently vying for the "America Idol" title are Casey James, Crystal Bowersox, Lee Dewyze and Michael Lynche.

Among the many "American Idol" finalists and/or winners who have appeared on Broadway are Fantasia (The Color Purple), Diana DeGarmo and Ace Young (both back on Broadway in Hair), Tamyra Gray, Constantine Maroulis (on Broadway in Rock of Ages), Frenchie Davis, Clay Aiken and Taylor Hicks (currently in the national tour of Grease).
