Some of the original Broadway stars of The Life will very likely recreate their roles in an upcoming London production of the musical. Tony-winners Chuck Cooper and Lillias White, as well as Pamela Isaacs, will be among the performers sought after to make the trans-Atlantic trip, spokesperson Judy Jacksina told Playbill On-line. Jacksina added, however, that none of the casting was definite. As first reported in Variety, a London staging of the gritty New York musical will happen this October. The specific dates and theatre of the engagement are not yet known.
The Cy Coleman-David Newman-Ira Gasman show opened at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre on April 26, 1997. It went on to receive a host of Tony nominations, netting two for supporting players Cooper and White.
