Did you ever wish you could see what happens backstage in the hours leading up to opening night of a big Broadway musical -- then watch the show open and go to the cast party with the stars?

On Wednesday April 23, Playbill On-Line took you on you on just such a ride through the debut of Titanic. Tonight, April 24, join us as we count down to the first regular performance of the new Kander & Ebb musical, Steel Pier.

Our writers and photographers are sitting with the cast, crew and creators of the show, as they experience their long-awaiting opening on Broadway. You've been following their development in Critics Circle -- now hold virtual hands with them as they pass through their big night.

Starting at Noon (EST) April 24, Playbill On-Line will post live reports, roughly hourly, on the Playbill On-Line World Wide Web site (http://www.playbill.com) and the Playbill forum (Keyword: PLAYBILL) on America Online (AOL).

Visitors to the Playbill On-Line site will be able to join in the "Countdown to Curtain" as the new musical officially opens on Broadway. We will bring behind- the-scenes stories, interviews, insight, theatrical lore and first-hand reports from backstage and from the glittering opening night audience. Stop in throughout the day and evening. Dispatches will be archived, so you'll be able to go back and see how we've progressed as the big moment approaches.

Through AOL and the World Wide Web people around the world will be able to participate in the unique experience of a Broadway opening.

Produced by Roger Berlind, Steel Pier is a new musical with music and lyrics by the legendary John Kander and Fred Ebb (Chicago, Cabaret, and Kiss of the Spider Woman). Steel Pier is directed by Scott Ellis with choreography by Susan Stroman and a book by David Thompson. Sets are by Tony Walton with costumes by William Ivey Long and lighting by Peter Kaczorowski.

Titanic officially opens at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on April 23 at 6:30 PM. Steel Pier officially opens at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on April 24 at 6:30 PM. You'll be able to tune in at any hour and see all previous hourly posts.
