Charlotte d'Amboise steps into the role of Roxie Hart in Broadway's Chicago June 10, taking over for Karen Ziemba, who left June 9, and keeping the stage warm for once-and-future Roxie, Sandy Duncan, who is now slated to join the cast Aug. 12.
d'Amboise is remembered by regional audiences who saw her daffy, comic turn as "merry murderess" Roxie in the national tour of Chicago. Her Broadway co-star is British actress Ruthie Henshall, playing Velma. Henshall is expected to continue as Velma through the fall, while d'Amboise is around to Aug. 11.
Duncan was to go on in May but a foot injury kept her sidelined.
