News Dances from the Heart Benefit, with Billy Elliot's Alvarez, Presented Jan. 23 Dances from the Heart, an evening to benefit Dancers Responding to AIDS (DRA), will be presented Jan. 23 at the Cedar Lake Theater in Manhattan's West Chelsea neighborhood.

Tony Award-winning choreographer Rob Ashford hosts the evening, which boasts nine dance performances. Show time is 7:30 PM.

Among those scheduled to perform are David Alvarez, one of the three young actors who stars in the title role of Billy Elliot — The Musical. Alvarez will perform "Electricity" from the acclaimed Elton John-Lee Hall musical. The evening will also feature performances by the American Ballet Theatre, Battleworks, Camille A. Brown, Dresden SemperOper Ballett, Les Ballet Grandiva, Paul Taylor Dance Company and Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre.

American Ballet Theater soloist Carlos Lopez will offer a world premiere by choreographer Chase Brock.

Denise Hurlin Roberts, founding director of DRA, said in a recent statement, "We are delighted that these nine extraordinary artists and companies have come together for this very special event to benefit DRA. Their on-going commitment to support our organization continues to make a difference in the lives of people living with HIV/AIDS."

The Cedar Lake Theater is located in Manhattan at 547 West 26th Street, between 10th and 11th Avenues. Tickets, priced $150 (performance only) and $250 (VIP seating and after party with the artists), are available by calling (212) 840-0770 or by visiting www.dradance.org. *

Founded in 1991, by former Paul Taylor dancers Denise Roberts Hurlin and Hernando Cortez, DRA "encompasses a network of professional dance companies who raise money through audience appeals and performing DRA events, the Dance Student Outreach Project, and other wide-ranging dance organizations."
