News Daniel Sullivan Directs Gotham Reading of The Sea of Tranquility Tony Award-winning director Daniel Sullivan (Proof) directed a July 14 reading of Howard Korder's The Sea of Tranquility at the American Airlines Theatre with a cast that included Peter Friedman (Ragtime), Sam Rockwell ("Confessions of a Dangerous Mind") and Julie White (Barbra's Wedding, Bad Dates).

In The Sea of Tranquility, a volunteer analyst grapples with his own dark past as he attempts to help others. The new work is currently under consideration to be part of the next season at Off-Broadway's Atlantic Theatre Company. Korder's other plays include Boys' Life, The Hollow Lands, Search and Destroy, The Lights and The Certain Story.

The prolific Sullivan is already scheduled to helm the upcoming Broadway productions of William Nicholson's The Retreat From Moscow, with Eileen Atkins, Ben Chaplin and John Lithgow, and Donald Margulies' Sight Unseen, with Liev Schreiber and Laura Linney. His bounty of other credits include I'm Not Rappaport, Morning's at Seven, A Moon for the Misbegotten, Spinning into Butter and Proof — his first Tony win after three prior nominations.

The cast of the reading including Friedman, Rockwell, White, Terry Beaver (The Man Who Came to Dinner), Joel de la Fuente (America Dreaming), John Gallagher, Jr.(Kimberly Akimbo), Mimi Lieber (I'm Not Rappaport), Deborah Offner (Everett Beekin), John Ortiz (References to Salvador Dali Make Me Hot), Ana Reeder (Humble Boy) and Merritt Wever (Cavedweller). Aaron Krohn (The Invention of Love, the upcoming Henry IV) read stage directions.
