Directed by Marlo Hunter — who was the associate choreographer on Roundabout Theatre Company's Picnic and also directed Carner and Gregor's Unlock'd at Prospect Theater Company — the concert will begin at 8 PM.
The concert was cast by online submissions from college students around the country. A panel of four judges, including casting directors Michael Cassara and Jason Najjoum, concert director Hunter and concert producer Alina Gutiérrez, chose this year's eight winners from over 100 entries.
The cast includes Keith Allen, Woody Buck, Jordon Bolden, Danny Harris Kornfeld, MoMo Lamping, Solea Pfeiffer, Emily Rogers and Chauncey Trask.
After four sold-out editions, Carner & Gregor's Barely Legal Showtune Extravaganza "is back for its biggest concert event yet," according to press notes. "Join Sam Carner and Derek Gregor, two of New York's hottest up-and-coming musical theatre writing teams…as they take you on a tour of their diverse work sung by the most promising young musical theatre performers in the country. Submissions will be accepted for the chance for eight lucky college students to make their New York concert debut in Barely Legal."
"We have seen so many fantastic young singers perform our songs across the country that we wanted to give them the opportunity to show what they can do here in New York," said Carner in a previous statement. Gregor added, "We are so excited to give these college students a springboard like this to dive head first into New York's musical theatre scene. We are proud of what our alumni have done and can't wait to expand the Barely Legal family."
Wade, who performed in last year's Barely Legal, won the Canadian reality TV show "Over the Rainbow" and is now playing Dorothy in the Toronto Wizard of Oz production. Other concert alums have performed on Broadway in Follies, Off-Broadway in Carrie and Myths & Hymns, and at major regional theatres and national tours.
