The event is part of the Cocteau's New Classics Reading Series, which is "dedicated to producing readings of primarily new translations and adaptations of classic work, or new work that evokes classic themes, styles or traditions." The story concerns the assassination of Inés de Castro—Spanish mistress to the Prince of Portugal—whose death provoked a brutal civil war, which in turn led to a confrontation between the prince and his father, the king.

Also in the cast are Natalie Ballesteros, Blanca Camacho, David Crommett, Miriam Cruz, Monica Steuer, Gilberto Ron, Ed Vassallo, and Yul Vazquez. Ellen Beckerman directs.

Jean Cocteau Repertory is located at 330 Bowery at Bond Street.  Tickets can be reserved by calling (212) 677-0060 ext. 11.

The reading is free. Showtime is 8 PM.
