News Darren Day to Star in UK Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat Darren Day, currently touring as Don in Summer Holiday, is to play the title role in Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the New London Theatre, from Oct. 6. Day has played the role before, at the London Palladium, in 1993.

The musical, based on the biblical story (as, of course, was their later hit, Jesus Christ, Superstar), was the first hit for Lloyd Webber and Rice.

This production is directed and produced by Bill Kenwright, designed by Sean Cavanagh, choreography by Henry Metcalfe and lighting design by Nick Richings, with musical direction by David Steadman. It opened at the New London in March this year.

As a touring production, Joseph has attracted an audience of more than 15 million people over a period of some twenty years, and is in the Guinness Book of Records as the world's longest touring musical. The production, however, was given a complete make-over specifically for the West End, so the version now available at the New London is a new one, specifically designed for the theatre it is staged in.
