News   Darren Lee, EJ Zimmerman, Christine Toy Johnson Will Be Part of Reading of New Musical Joker's Game, First Produced in China

A reading of Joker's Game, a new musical originally developed and produced in China, will be held Feb. 25 at noon at the Ripley Grier Studios.

The musical features a book by Kemin Zhang, Anthony Stimac and James Racheff; music by Louis St. Louis; additional songs by Mark Allen; and English lyrics by James Racheff translated from the original Chinese lyrics by Kemin Zhang. The cast for the reading will include Darren Lee (The Joker), EJ Zimmerman (Kate), Christine Toy Johnson (Madam Wang), Austin Ku (Everett Horton), Katie Lee Hill (Tia Ling), Kirby Ward (Martin Flox), Jackie Nguyen (Jing Jing A Hot Hot Girl), Jenn Aedo (NaNa A Hot Hot Girl), Justine Icy Moral (Yo Yo A Hot Hot Girl), Q Lim (Shi Shi A Hot Hot Girl), Andy Danh (Ensemble), Kevin Schuering (Ensemble) and Hugh Cha (Ensemble).

Joker's Game, according to press notes, was "inspired by the real experiences of a Chinese Canadian magician. The idea was conceived in 2008, shortly after Beijing hosted the Olympic Games for the first time in history, where modern China finally emerged as an infinitely fascinating place." Much of the show pays homage to the Great White Way, but traditional Chinese percussion welcomes the show.

Ripley Grier Studios is located at 520 8th Avenue, Studio 16Q. For additional information email wdtsf333@gmail.com.
