News Dave Willetts to Star in New British Musical Based on Jekyll and Hyde Story, The Man Inside Dave Willetts, who became the first person in the world to have played the roles of both Jean Valjean and The Phantom in, respectively, Les Miserables and The Phantom of the Opera, when he took over in the original London productions, is to star as Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde in the world premiere of a new British musical The Man Inside.

It will begin performances at the Everyman Studio in Cheltenham March 5 for a run through March 8, before transferring to London's Landor Theatre in Clapham, beginning performances March 12 prior to an official opening March 13, for a run through March 29.

Presented by Theatrica Ltd. in association with Cheltenham's Everyman Theatre, the show has music by Tony Rees and book and lyrics by Rees and Gary Young. Additional book material is by Dave Willetts. It is directed by Robert McWhir, with musical direction by Matheson Bayley.

According to press materials, the musical is a contemporary re-imagining of Robert Louis Stevenson’s 1886 novella "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde."

Willetts' other West End theatre credits include Sunset Boulevard at the Comedy Theatre, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers at the Theatre Royal, Haymarket and Ragtime at the Piccadilly Theatre. He has toured in South Pacific, 42nd Street and Cats, and regionally has played the title role in Sweeney Todd at Leicester Haymarket.
