Mezzo-soprano Denyce Graves will replace soprano Jessye Norman at the upcoming Marian Anderson Award Gala on October 24 at Philadelphia's Kimmel Center.

Norman, who is recovering from a pinched nerve, canceled another gala-event appearance earlier this month at Ottawa's National Arts Center. She was replaced at that event by soprano Kathleen Battle.

The gala event will also feature jazz vocalist Nancy Wilson and the Philadelphia Orchestra, and is preceded by a black-tie dinner.

She has also performed with the Vienna Staatsoper, the Royal Opera, San Francisco Opera, Op_ra National de Paris, and Lyric Opera of Chicago, among many others.

Recently she performed the title role in the world premiere of the Richard Danielpour and Toni Morrison'sMargaret Garner.
