Rachins will co-star with Turkish actress Cigdem Onat in the new play, which runs at the New Jersey theatre Oct. 14-Nov. 9. David Saint directs the politically charged love story from the book writer of Gypsy and West Side Story. Rachins will star as Beecher — an American documentary filmmaker — in Attacks on the Heart. According to release, "Just months before September 11, 2001, [Beecher] has fallen in love with Leyla (Onat), a Turkish woman living in New York City. Will their love affair end or can they build a future together in post-9/11 America, now that their world views, religious backgrounds and politics have become so obviously different?"
In addition to his work on "Dharma & Greg," Alan Rachins also played an Emmy-nominated stint as Douglas Brachman on TV's "L.A. Law." On the silver screen he has been seen in "Leave it To Beaver," "Meet Wally Sparks," "North" and "Time Walkers." His New York stage credits include After the Rain, Hadrian the Seventh, Oh! Calcutta and The Trojan Women. Rachins has also penned scripts for "Hill Street Blues," "The Fall Guy," "Hart to Hart" and "Knight Rider."
The George Street Playhouse is located in New Brunswick, N.J., at 9 Livingston Avenue. Tickets for the production are available by calling the theatre's box office at (732) 246-7717; for more information, visit www.gsponline.org.
