Classic Arts News Diana Vishneva Drops Out of 'Kings of the Dance' Performances Kirov Ballet principal dancer Diana Vishneva will miss next month's performances of "Kings of the Dance" at the Orange Country Performing Arts Center and New York City Center.
Vishneva was to appear in Roland Petit's Le Jeune et la Mort opposite the four star male dancers for whom the event is named: Angel Corella of American Ballet Theatre, Johan Kobborg of the Royal Ballet, Ethan Stiefel of American Ballet Theatre, and Nikolay Tsiskaridze of the Bolshoi Ballet. Tamiyo Kusakari, a principal dancer with Japan's Asami Maki Ballet, will replace her.

The performances, which also include new works by Christopher Wheeldon, Stanton Welch, and other choreographers, run February 16-19 at OPAC and February 23-26 at City Center.

According to a spokesman for OPAC, the performances conflicted with Vishneva's rehearsals for the Kirov's premiere of Pierre Lacotte's Ondine at the Mariinsky Theatre in March.
