J. David Stem and David N. Weiss have been hired to write the sequel, which will be directed by Anne Fletcher and produced again by Barry Josephson and Barry Sonnenfeld.
Adams starred as Giselle opposite Patrick Dempsey in the live-action, fairytale movie musical. Also in the cast were Tony winner Idina Menzel, James Marsden, Timothy Spall, Rachel Covey and Susan Sarandon with Julie Andrews voicing the narrator.
An earlier draft of the "Enchanted" sequel was penned by Jessie Nelson, and there are no additional details on who will reprise their performances in the second film.
