On March 8 the acclaimed series will offer the Ricky Ian Gordon-Tina Landau musical, which played Off-Broadway's Vineyard Theatre in 1999. A spokesperson for CooperArts said that casting has just begun, although creators Landau and Gordon will take part in the evening. Ted Sperling will be the musical director for the concert — featuring Jonathan Tunick's original orchestrations — which is scheduled for 7:30 PM. Dream True, inspired by the George du Maurier novel "Peter Ibbetson," covers five decades in the lives of two boyhood friends, taking them from Wyoming to New York City. This is no ordinary friendship, however: the two pals are able to communicate through dreams. One of the friends turns into a gay activist, with the two meeting years later on a New York City Street. The Off-Broadway company included Judy Kuhn, Daniel Jenkins, Jeff McCarthy and Jessica Molaskey.
The concert will be held at the Great Hall at Cooper Union, located in Manhattan at Seventh Street and Third Avenue. Tickets are priced at $20 (general admission) and $15 (students and seniors, available at the door only) and will go on sale mid-February through Ticket Central; call (212) 279-4200.
