Classic Arts News Drummer Jack DeJohnette Launches CD Label Jazz drummer Jack DeJohnette has launched his own CD label, Golden Beams Productions.
The first two CDs from the label, to be released on April 26, will be a duet with Gambian musicians Foday Musa Suso, titled Music From the Hearts of the Masters, and Music in the Key of Om, a recording intended to accompany relaxation and meditation.

The label will focus on DeJohnette's cross-disciplinary experiments with African, Brazilian, and electronic music. According to his web site, DeJohnette also plans to "lay down killer grooves on vinyl for DJs and experimentalists alike."

DeJohnette played with Miles Davis on the trumpeter's seminal fusion album Bitches Brew; his own group New Directions and Special Edition have explored both avant-garde free jazz and pop-infused fusion. He has been a member of pianist Keith Jarrett's trio for more than two decades.
