East West Players, Los Angeles’ Asian Pacific Theatre, presents the world premiere of Ikebana, by Alice Tuan, Nov. 24-Dec. 22.

The title comes from the Japanese word for the art of flower arranging, and was inspired by a book of flower expressions. Each scene of the play, mirrors images of these floral arrangements, exploring themes of mystery and reality, secret and truth, disparate family personalities. Often times cast members will physically recreate the configurations on stage.

Earlier this year, Ikebana was workshopped at Brown University in the graduate playwrighting program, and is also a part of the Taper Forum’s New Works Festival with two staged reading performances at the Taper Too. (See Taper New Works Festival story in theatre news).
