Created in 1993 by Tommy cast member Donnie Kehr, Rockers on Broadway allows Broadway talent the chance to trade in their orchestras and jam with live rock musicians while raising funds for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. This year Wingspan Arts has been added as a beneficiary of the event's proceeds. Cast members of Broadway's Jersey Boys, The Little Mermaid, Hairspray, In the Heights, The Color Purple, Rent and more will be represented in the evening, which boasts artists from Broadway and the music industry.
Among the talent scheduled to appear are Christine Ebersole, Deborah Gibson, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Darlene Love, Micky Dolenz, Tituss Burgess, Norm Lewis, Gerry McIntyre, Michael McElroy, Daniel Reichard, Will Chase, Tevin Campbell, Thomas Cannizzaro, Travis Cloer, Kris Coleman, Anika Ellis, Renee Elise Goldsberry, Joshua Henry, Christian Hoff, Mitch Jarvis, Miles Johnson, Monroe Kent, Michelle Kinney, Michael Lanning, Michael Longoria, Miles Mancuso, Krisha Marcano, Dominic Nolfi, Destan Owen, John Eric Parker, Todd Pettiford, Gabby Porter, Greg Reuter, Elisio Roman, Jeremy Schonfeld, CE Smith, J. Robert Spencer, Dennis Stowe, Clark Thorell, Tommar Wilson, LaLa Brooks and Kate Taylor.
The evening will also features appearances by legendary Motown songwriting team Holland-Dozier-Holland, as well as Rupert Holmes, Des McAnuff and radio personality Cousin Brucie Morrow.
Comedienne Carolyn Rhea hosts the event with Kehr directing and producing in association with Sandy Hicks. Vocal arrangements are by Michael McElroy, musical arrangements are by Joe Church and choreography is by Wayne Cilento and Kelly Devine.
