Christine Ebersole, Dale Kristien, Amanda McBroom and Maureen McGovern will lead a stellar company in "A Holiday Cabaret" at L.A.'s Alex Theatre Dec. 4 at 8 PM. The concert will benefit Para Los Ninos, a children's service organization.
Ebersole, most recently seen on Broadway in Stephen Sondheim & George Furth's non-musical Getting Away With Murder, performed in Broadway revivals of Camelot and Oklahoma! as well as cultivating a television ("Saturday Night Live", "One Life To Live") and movie ("Till There Was You," "Black Sheep," "My Girl 2") career.
Kristien performed the role of Christine in the Los Angeles company of The Phantom of the Opera 1,700 times, many of them opposite original Phantom, Michael Crawford. McBroom, the author of the musical Heartbeats, has recorded six solo albums including "A Waiting Heart" and "Amanda McBroom: Live from Rainbow and Stars".
McGovern, famous for her pop hits including "There's Got to Be a Morning After", recently finished the national tour of The King And I in the lead role of Anna.
D.C. Anderson will direct Claudia Anderson, Jim Bailey (as Judy Garland), George Ball, Kimberle Baxter, Karen Benjamin, John Boswell, Marie Cain, Alan Chapman, Anne Kerry Ford, Albert Hague, Ritt Henn, Lee Lessack, Geordie MacMinn, Renee Orin, Kate Peters, Kirby Tepper and Teresa Tudury as they present traditional music for the holidays. Lem Jay Ignacio will accompany the singers with Carolyn Sykes on harp. Para Los Ninos provides services such as child care, after-school and summer day camps, and youth centers for families in such areas as East Los Angeles, MacArthur Park, Pico Union, Skid Row and South Central Los Angeles.
