News Eddie Redmayne and Johnny Depp Will Star in Fantastic Beasts Sequel The second film in the J.K. Rowling series will be released in 2018.
Casting is already underway for the second film in the Fantastic Beasts series, a spinoff of J.K. Rowling's internationally successful Harry Potter works, according to Variety.

As previously reported, Tony and Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne stars as Newt Scamander in the first film, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which will arrive in cinemas from Warner Bros. November 18.

Redmayne, seen on Broadway in Red and on screen in Les Miserables, will also star in the sequel, which will again be directed by David Yates. The second in the series will also feature Johnny Depp, who has a cameo in the first film. A November 16, 2018, release is currently scheduled with filming to begin in 2017.

Screenwriter Rowling revealed earlier this month that the Fantastic Beasts series will comprise five films.

Redmayne won his Tony for his performance in Red and his Oscar for his work in The Theory of Everything. Rowling, John Tiffany, and Jack Thorne's Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Parts One and Two is currently a hot ticket at London’s Palace Theatre.
