Other new recordings on the chart included guitarist and singer Katie Melua's Piece by Piece at number three, veteran vocalist Diane Schuur's Live in London at number eight, and The House That Trane Built, a compilation of Impulse recordings, at number 16. Trio Beyond: Saudades, a new disc from drummer Jack DeJohnette, keyboardist Larry Golding and guitarist John Scofield, made its first appearance at number 15.

On the contemporary-jazz chart, The Best of Will Downing: The Millennium Collection, a new compilation from the singer, debuted at number one, dethroning Herbie Hancock's Possibilities, which fell to number three. Saxophonist Marion Meadows's Dressed to Chill moved from number five to number two in its second week on the chart.
