Classic Arts News Emanuel Ax Withdraws From Mostly Mozart Recitals With Injury Pianist Emanuel Ax will missed two planned appearances at the Mostly Mozart Festival because he has fractured a rib, Lincoln Center announced.
Jeremy Denk has replaced Ax in two late-night recital programs at the Kaplan Penthouse tonight and August 3. Despite the injury, Ax will play the solo part in Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 22 at Avery Fisher Hall on the same evenings.

The Kaplan Penthouse programs are part of "A Little Night Music," a series of hour-long events that originated at last year's festival. Tonight, Ax was scheduled to play sonatas by Mozart and Beethoven and music by Rameau; instead, Denk will perform Bach's Partita for Keyboard No. 6 and Schumann's Faschingsschwank aus Wien. On August 3, Denk will accompany soprano Emma Bell in songs by Mozart and Debussy.
