The demand for tickets has been so great for Barbara Cook's Mostly Sondheim, that the American diva has added yet another week to her run and will now stay on at the Lyric Theatre until 1st September. This is in addition to two week extension announced earlier this week and making a total run of eight weeks. Mostly Sondheim, which received rave reviews in the U.S., continues Stephen Sondheim's 70th birthday celebrations, offering selections of is own work combined with pieces from the Great American Songbook that "he wishes he had written" - all delivered in the flawless soprano voice which has won Barbara Cook a place in musical history. Accompanied by Wally Harper on piano.
Broadway's favorite ingenue in the 1950s and 60s, Miss Cook created important roles in musical theatre. Together their recordings include It's Better With a Band, Oscar Winners: The Lyrics of Oscar Hammerstein, Champion Season: A Salute to Gower Champion and their latest, Mostly Sondheim.
