The Los Angeles premiere of Jackie and Clarisse, a tragi-comedy embraced in Boston in 1996, opens Nov. 5 at the Hudson Backstage Theatre in Hollywood. Deborah A. Vines’ script concerns the surprising relationship between an ex-con (played by Bob DeLibero) and a lonely, abused married woman (played by Barbara Gruen). Eugenia Ives, formerly with Tim Robbins’ Actors Gang, directs.
Inspired by a true story, the plot involves spousal abuse, drug abuse and the hope that comes with the idea that people can change.
Actor DeLibero originated the role of Jackie at the Boston Center for the Arts in 1996. The L.A. staging is produced by Fresh Air Productions in association with Waterfront Productions.
Tickets are $15-$20. Hudson Backstage is located at 6539 Santa Monica Blvd. Call (323) 856-4200.
