News Ex-Gay Recovery Group Gets a Poke in the Eye in H.A.! July 9 in NYC Actor-writer Perry Ojeda's H.A.!, a developing new comedy with songs, will be seen in a reading July 9 as part of the Dixon Place HOT! Festival in Manhattan.

H.A.! "is a farce about Ex-Gay Evangelical Christians and the 14-step program Homosexual's Anonymous — the two extra steps are for complete recovery," according to Ojeda, known for his work in Broadway's On the Town and the Encores! Babes in Arms.

Act One of the new piece will be seen and will feature Rebecca Burton, Jim David, Rosemary DeAngelis, Eric Rasmussen and Jonathan Rayson. Randy Redd has penned songs for it. Karen Azenberg directs.

The 7:30 PM reading is part of Dixon Place's Page to Stage series (the writers Vanda and Theodroe Nicholas are also on the bill that night).

Hot!: The NYC Celebration of Queer Culture is a Dixon Place summer festival that has been happening every July since 1991. According to Dixon Place notes, "it includes full length and shorter works in performance, music, theatre, dance, literature, poetry, spoken word, puppetry, burlesque, drag, and circus." There are featured shows, general programming, and programming that fall under the umbrellas of specific performance series. The works presented are at all various stages of development, from works-in-progress to polished pieces.

Tickets are $12 and are available at ovationtix.com. The performance space Dixon Place is located at 258 Bowery, on the west side of the street between Houston and Prince.
