News EXCLUSIVE: Muny Season to Feature Brown, Block, Hewitt, McCarthy, Hoty, Bell, Beach, Page Playbill.com has learned that an array of Broadway artists — including Tony Award winner Gary Beach — will be part of the 2010 summer season at the St. Louis Muny, the nation's oldest and largest outdoor theatre.

The new season will kick off June 21 with Disney's Beauty and the Beast, which runs through June 30. The remainder of the season includes Titanic, The Musical, July 5-11; Damn Yankees, July 12-18; Cats, July 19-25; The Sound of Music, July 26-Aug. 1; Footloose, Aug. 2-8; and Show Boat, Aug 9-15.

Initial casting for these productions, according to a Muny spokesperson, follows:

The cast of Disney's Beauty and the Beast, which is based on the animated film of the same name, will be headed by James Clow and Sarah Darling in the title roles with Ken Page as Maurice, Jeb Brown as Cogsworth, Lara Teeter as Lumiere and Leslie Denniston as Mrs. Potts.

The Titanic production will boast original Broadway company members Martin Moran and Henry Stram in the roles of, respectively, Harold Bride and Henry Etches, with Michele Ragusa as Alice Beane, Sara Ford as Kate McGowen, Justin Scott Brown as Jim Farrell, Ron Raines as Isidor Strauss, William Youmans as J. Bruce Ismay and Tom Hewitt as Thomas Andrews.

The baseball-themed Damn Yankees will boast Lewis Stadlen as Mr. Applegate, Angie Schworer as Lola, Walter Charles as Joe Boyd, Eric Kunze as Joe Hardy and Linda Mugleston as Meg. Andrew Lloyd Webber's feline-friendly Cats will feature Ken Page as Old Deuteronomy, Stephanie Block as Grizabella and Lara Teeter as Munkustrap, while Rodgers and Hammerstein's classic The Sound of Music will include Ashley Brown as Maria, Lewis Stadlen as Max, Leslie Denniston as Elsa and Linda Mugelston as Mother Abbess.

The 1998 musical Footloose, also based on the film of the same name, will feature Billy Tighe as Ren McCormack, Meggie Cansler as Ariel Moore, Jeff McCarthy as Rev. Moore and Dee Hoty as Vi Moore.

The groundbreaking Jerome Kern-Oscar Hammerstein II musical Show Boat will include Michel Bell, who earned a Tony nomination for his work in the 1994 revival of this musical, as Joe with Georgia Engel as Parthy Anne and Tony Award winner Gary Beach as Captain Andy.

Season tickets are now on sale, and single tickets will be available beginning June 5.

The theatre regularly attracts Broadway talent. Last season boasted performances by Kate Baldwin, Max von Essen, Beth Leavel, Robert Cuccioli and more.
