Atkinson plays Lotty, the mousy, cloistered English housewife who, with Ringwald's quirky Rose — another bored wife — embarks on a bold excursion to Tuscany, which transforms their dreary existences. Ashley is Mrs. Graves, the prideful matron who joins them.
