Extensions Announced for Two Acclaimed Shows Off-Broadway | Playbill

News Extensions Announced for Two Acclaimed Shows Off-Broadway Two acclaimed shows Off-Broadway have announced extensions: MCC's The Legend of Georgia McBride by Matthew Lopez will play an additional week through Oct. 11; and Dick Scanlan and Sherie Rene Scott's Whorl Inside a Loop will also play an additional week, through Sept. 27 at Second Stage Theatre.

Whorl Inside a Loop reunites the creative team behind the Tony-nominated Everyday Rapture, with co-directors Michael Mayer and Scanlan.

Scott co-wrote and stars in the prison-set play that is inspired by the real-life stories of inmates, based on her experience of volunteering at a correctional facility in Woodstock.

She is joined onstage by Derrick Baskin (…Spelling Bee), Nicholas Christopher (Motown), Chris Myers (An Octoroon), Ryan Quinn (King Lear), Daniel J. Watts (In the Heights), and Donald Webber, Jr. (Motown). Through comedy and heartfelt emotion, the new work examines the fine line between convicted felons and the criminal in each of us. The Legend of Georgia McBride has downtown audiences rolling in the aisles with laughter. The Florida-set comedy follows a young Elvis impersonator who unexpectedly finds himself performing in drag, and even more surprisingly, turns out to be very good at it. As his talents grow, so do the lies he must tell his young, pregnant wife.

Directed by Mike Donahue with choreography by Paul McGill, Georgia McBride stars Dave Thomas Brown, Wayne Duvall, Matt McGrath, Keith Nobbs and Afton C. Williamson. Click here to purchase tickets.
