The piece – which began as a stand-up comedy routine in Manhattan and then premiered in Salt Lake City – has played across North America since, including a run at the 2004 New York International Fringe Festival and an extended Off-Broadway engagement. The one-man show tells the autobiographical story of how Fales – a gay man – went from being a Mormon boy in Utah to becoming a high-priced call boy in new York City. It follows him from his excommunication from the Mormon church, marriage, having children, divorce, prostitution and drug abuse, as he struggles to reclaim himself, his children and his "Donny Osmond" smile.

In press materials, Fales says, "I wrote the play so that my children would some day be able to understand their gay father. I kept thinking that if I were to die, there wasn't anyone I could fully trust to tell my kids who their 'wicked' gay dad really was and how much I loved them."

Fales is a classically trained actor with an MFA in acting from the University of Connecticut. He turned to writing and stand-up when his perfect Mormon world fell apart. Born in Provo, UT, Fales began performing as a young boy singing solos in church. Credits include leading roles at the Utah Shakespearean Festival, Pioneer Theatre Company, Coconut Grove Playhouse, Connecticut Repertory Theatre and. Sundance Theatre. Fales has also worked in film and television, and he is currently touring his cabaret show Mormon American Princess and is writing his second book, "Oxy-Mormon Memoirs."

The one-man play is directed by Tony-winning director Jack Hofsiss (The Elephant Man, whose other credits include Total Abandon, The Shadow Box, Surviving Grace, Kilt, Avow, The Final Interrogation of Coucescau's Dog, My Night with Reg, Splendora, A Mom's Life, The Subject Was Roses, Seconds Out, The Years (MTC), No Way to Treat a Lady, One Man Band, Poor Little Lambs and Tolstoy (West End).
