News Felicitous Casting: Heather Graham Cast in Playwrights Horizons' Recent Tragic Events in Fall Film actress Heather Graham, of "Boogie Nights" and "The Spy Who Shagged Me," will make her New York stage debut in the Manhattan premiere of Craig Wright's 9/11-related play, Recent Tragic Events, at Playwrights Horizons this fall.

A spokesman confirmed Graham will play Waverly — a woman on a date the day after events of Sept. 11, 2001 — beginning previews Sept. 5 on the Playwrights Horizons mainstage on 42nd Street. An opening night has yet to be determined. Michael John Garcés will direct the drama, previously seen in Washington, DC, in a staging by Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company.

The Wright drama is set on Sept. 12, 2001, during a blind date in Minneapolis between Andrew, a self-effacing and shy young bookstore clerk, and foxy advertising exec Waverly. But the evening is rocked by the information that Waverly's sister has gone missing in New York.

Graham's movie credits include "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me," "Killing Me Softly," "Anger Management," "Lost in Space," "Scream 2," "The Guru" and more.
