News   Finn's Elegies — with New Song — Begins Barrington Run Aug. 11 The Barrington Stage Company's production of William Finn's Elegies: A Song Cycle begins performances at the Mahaiwe Theatre in downtown Great Barrington, MA, Aug. 11.

Directed by Rob Ruggiero, the production features one new song recently penned by composer Finn. Entitled "I Do, I Do, I Do," the song is a tribute to the late author James Goldman, who wrote the book for the Sondheim musical Follies as well as the award-winning play The Lion in Winter. Elegies, which will run through Aug. 28, stars Romain Frugé, Sandy Binion, Bradford William Anderson, Sally Wilfert and Andre Ward. The creative team comprises Tobin Ost (set and costume design), Randy Hansen (sound design), Matthew Richards (lighting design) and Deborah Abramson (musical direction).

The musical song cycle, which celebrates life (and death) through the power of song, was originally presented at Lincoln Center's Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater in 2003. The company, under the direction of Graciela Daniele, featured Rupert, Kirk, Christian Borle, Betty Buckley and Carolee Carmello. Fynsworth Alley released the original cast recording, which features such Finn titles as "Looking Up Quintet," "Mister Choi & Madame G," "Mark's All-Male Thanksgiving," "Only One," "Joe Papp," "Peggy Hewitt & Mysty Del Giorno," "Passover," "Infinite Joy," "The Ballad of Jack Eric Williams (and Other 3 Named Composers)," "Monica & Mark," "Anytime (I Am There)," "My Dogs," "14 Dwight Ave., Natick, Massachusetts," "When the Earth Stopped Turning," "Goodbye" and "Looking Up."

Elegies: A Song Cycle will play Tuesdays at 7 PM, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8 PM, Fridays at 2 and 8 PM, Saturdays at 8 PM and Sundays at 5 PM. Tickets, priced $32-$48, are available by calling (413) 528-8888 or by visiting www.barringtonstageco.org.
