News   Fire at North Shore Music Theatre Shuts Down Cinderella A three-alarm fire July 14 has shut down North Shore Music Theatre and its days-old staging of Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella, in Beverly, Massachusetts.

A recorded announcement by the resident company known for its in-the-round performances indicated that shows for the weekend (July 15-17) have been cancelled. An assessment about restarting the show will be made in coming days.

There were apparently no injuries in the fire that broke out around 10:30 PM, after the performance of the show. According to reports, heavy smoke prevented firefighters from immediately determining the source of the fire, which was under control by 1 AM.

The audience and staff were reportedly not in the building at the time of the fire.

A statement on the North Shore website reads, "On July 14, 2005 a fire damaged the stage at NSMT. No one was in the building at the time, and thanks to the efforts of the local fire departments, the fire was controlled quickly."
