Classic Arts News   Franco Farina Steps in as Radames for Met's Oct. 20 Aida

Due to illness, tenor Marco Berti has withdrawn from tomorrow's matinee performance of Verdi's Aida at the Metropolitan Opera.

Filling in for Berti as Radames will be American tenor Franco Farina, who is a familiar figure on the Met stage, having sung eleven leading roles with the company, including this one.

He joins Micaela Carosi in the title role, Olga Borodina as Amneris, Juan Pons as Amonasro and Vitalij Kowaljow as Ramfis; conducting will be Kazushi Ono.

This is Berti's second consecutive missed performance due to ill health. At the previous one, earlier this week, his replacement was Roberto Alagna.
