Frank Wortham's very San Francisco solo show, House of Lucky, returns to the City by the Bay March 30-April 29. The Magic Theatre, recently home to Sam Shepard's The Late Henry Moss, hosts Bay Area Theatre Critics' Circle Award winner, which replaces Death in Venice in the Magic's schedule.
Wortham plays 17 characters in a variety of San Francisco situations including a customer in a North Beach travel agency trying to trade a puppy for a bus ticket, a man in a one-night stand with an older woman, an attempted reunion with an ex-girlfriend that goes horribly wrong and a drug deal that could go horribly wrong. House of Lucky had its San Francisco premiere at The Marsh, where it won the Bay Area Critics' Circle Awards for Best Original Script and Best Solo performance.
Wortham co-founded Impact Theatre with his House of Lucky director Josh Costello. As a writer, he scripted Inhaling, Love Song Later and Great Religions in America, which debuted in fall, 2000.
Tickets are $25-$30. The Magic Theatre is located in Building D at the Fort Mason Center on Marina Boulevard. For reservations, (415) 441-8822. The Magic Theatre is on line at http://www.magictheatre.org.
