People named Frank and franks of the edible kind are free at Off-Off Broadway's Kosher Franks July 13. The evening of seven one-act comedies by playwright Sid Frank run Monday and Tuesday evenings at the Studio Theatre. John Morrison directs.
Anyone named Frank (first or last name) will be admitted free July 13 by picking up a ticket starting at 7 PM. In addition, complimentary Hebrew National Kosher Franks will be served to the audience at intermission.
A playwright and author of children's books, Frank was a successful lyricist, penning such tunes as the 1951 gold record and Johnny Ray hit, "Please, Mr. Sun," as well as numbers performed by Frank Sinatra, Sarah Vaughan and Perry Como. Kosher Franks features several of his short plays including I Want That Job and Who the Hell Is Abner Bell?.
