Classic Arts Features Frederica von Stade to Open Deer Valley Music Festival July 17 The annual musical celebration in Park City, Utah, will kick off this year with a performance by opera star Frederica von Stade. The 4-week festival will include musical styles ranging from Mozart to ABBA to country-pop.

Now in its sixth year, the Deer Valley Music Festival - summer home to the Utah Symphony - will present nearly 20 concerts and events at a number of venues in and around Park City. Most performances take place at the Deer Valley Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater.

The first weekend will feature a special performance by von Stade on July 17 followed by "ABBA The Music: The Symphonic Hits" on July 18 performed by the world's leading ABBA tribute band.

This year's roster also boasts such performers as soprano Celena Shafer, LeAnn Rimes, the Amstel Saxophone Quartet and Elvis Costello. Symphonic works to be performed include Rhapsody in Blue, Tales of Scheherazade, the 1812 Overture and Mozart Violin Concerto No. 3.

The Deer ValleyÔÎ Music Festival (DVMF) is Utah Symphony | Utah Opera's (USUO's) summer home in the mountain resort town of Park City, Utah. The 2009 Festival is its sixth season of providing chamber music, classical, opera, and pops offerings in four venues: the Deer Valley Snow Park Amphitheater, St. Mary's Church, Temple Har Shalom, and salons in private homes in the Park City area.
