The series, which was devised by Neil Marcus and Elaine Paige, is currently being hosted by Playbill.com London correspondent Mark Shenton, who is also a theatre critic for the Sunday Express and regularly hosts platforms at the National Theatre. Friedman, who is currently reprising her one-woman concert Maria Friedman: Re-arranged, first seen at the Menier Chocolate Factory, at the Trafalgar Studios, will appear at the Shaw at 8 PM London time.

Future guests lined up for the Spotlight On… season include performer Ruthie Henshall (most recently seen on the London stage in the title role of Marguerite) on Jan. 15, 2009, and composer Michel Legrand (who wrote the score to Marguerite) on Feb. 13, 2009. Shenton will be the interviewer for both discussions.

Maria Friedman won Olivier Awards for her roles in Passion, Ragtime and the earlier version of her concert show, By Special Arrangement. Other leading roles include appearances in the West End in Chicago, Blues in the Night and The Woman in White (subsequently re-creating her performance at Broadway's Marquis Theatre), as well as Lady in the Dark and Sunday in the Park with George, both at the National Theatre. Producer Neil Marcus will present Maria Friedman Celebrates the British Songbook at the Shaw Theatre Feb. 5-7 2009.
