News Fringe 1999 Is Dead; Long Live Fringe 2000 (Aug. 16-27) August is over and gone and with it, the 1999 New York International Fringe Festival, which ended its 11-day stand on Aug. 29. Those artists and actors who missed the chance to be part of this year's fest can take heart: applications are already available for the 2000 event, set for Aug. 16-27, 2000.

Those artists and actors who missed the chance to be part of this year's fest can take heart: applications are already available for the 2000 event, set for Aug. 16-27, 2000. The Fringe powers that be intend to program 2,000 artists for the upcoming bash, and, by doing so, conjure up 2,000 hours of entertainment.
