The Nighthouse Company's rendering of Sidney Kingsley's Dead End, voted Audience Favorite at the 2001 New York International Fringe Festival, will rise again at the Henry Street Settlement Theatre, running Oct. 18-Nov. 4.

David Gaard directs the production. Most of last summer's cast will repeat their roles. Sylvia Bagaglio is the production designer.

Dead End uses dozens of characters to illustrate the chasm that separates New York City's rich from its poor. Cheek by Jowl with a luxurious East River apartment building is a down-at-heel dead end street, where the poor residents of the nearby tenements—including the original Dead End Kids—eke out a meager and desperate existence. The original Broadway production was a sensation, in part due to the set, which featured a pool of water representing the East River into which the kids frequently plunged to electrifying effect.

Dead End recently received a high profile revival at Boston's Huntington Theatre. Nicholas Martin directed the production.
