News Full Casting Announced for West End Return of The Ladykillers Full casting has been announced for the West End return of The Ladykillers, the 2011 stage version of the iconic 1955 Ealing film comedy that was subsequently remade by the Coen Brothers in 2004 in a version that starred Tom Hanks. It will begin performances at the West End's Vaudeville Theatre June 29, prior to an official opening July 9, for a summer run that is booking through Oct. 25.

The new cast will comprise Ralf Little, Simon Day, Angela Thorne, John Gordon Sinclair and Con O'Neill, with Chris McCalphy reprising his role from the recent U.K. tour.

The play premiered at the Gielgud Theatre Dec. 7, 2011 (after previews that began Nov. 26); the debut run ended April 14, 2012, as scheduled, before touring nationally. The original cast comprised Peter Capaldi, James Fleet, Ben Miller, Clive Rowe, Stephen Wight and Marcia Warren as Mrs. Wilberforce.

Written by TV writer Graham Linehan (whose credits include "Father Ted," "The I.T. Crowd" and "Black Books"), from the screenplay by William Rose, it is directed by Sean Foley, who was seen on Broadway in the transfer of The Play What I Wrote, that he co-wrote and starred in.

According to press materials, The Ladykillers tells the "classic black comedy tale of a sweet little old lady, alone in her house, pitted against a gang of criminal misfits who will stop at nothing. Posing as amateur musicians, Professor Marcus and his gang rent rooms in the lopsided house of sweet and eccentric Mrs. Wilberforce. The villains plot to involve her unwittingly in Marcus' brilliantly conceived heist job. The police are left stumped but Mrs Wilberforce becomes wise to their ruse and Marcus concludes that there is only one way to keep the old lady quiet. With only her parrot, General Gordon, to help her, Mrs W. is alone with five desperate men. But who will be forced to face the music?"

Set and costume design is by Michael Taylor, with lighting by James Farncombe, composition and sound design by Ben and Max Ringham, and special effects created by Scott Penrose. It is produced by Edward Snape for Fiery Angel. To book tickets, contact the box office on 0844 412 4663, or visit www.theladykillers.co.uk for more details.
