News Full Casting Announced for West End Revival of The Ruling Class; James McAvoy to Be Joined by Ron Cook, Kathrhyn Drysdale and More Full casting has been announced for the first-ever West End revival of Peter Barnes' 1968 play The Ruling Class that will begin performances Jan. 16 at the West End's Trafalgar Studios, prior to a gala opening Jan. 28, for a run through April 11.

The previously announced James McAvoy will be joined by a cast that also includes Ron Cook as Sir Charles Gurney, Kathryn Drysdale as Grace Shelley, Joshua McGuire as Dinsdale Gurney and Anthony O’Donnell as Daniel Tucker under the direction of Jamie Lloyd.

Also in the cast are Michael Cronin (Bishop Bertie Lampton), Serena Evans (Lady Claire Gurney), Paul Leonard (Ralph Gurney), Elliot Levey (Dr Herder), Forbes Masson (McKyle) and ensemble cast Rosy Benjamin, Andrew Bloomer and Oliver Lavery.

Design is by Soutra Gilmour, with lighting by Jon Clark, sound by Ben and Max Ringham, choreography by Darren Carnall and musical direction by Huw Evans.

In the play, Jack, a possible paranoid schizophrenic with a Messiah complex, inherits the title of the 14th Earl of Gurney after his father passes away in a bizarre accident. Singularly unsuited to a life in the upper echelons of elite society, he finds himself at the centre of a ruthless power struggle as his scheming family strives to uphold their reputation.
