A gala fundraising event for L.A.'s newest theatre group, The Write Act Repertory Company, will be held Sat., Aug. 21, at Lush, a Santa Monica nightclub. Members of the company will perform racy sketches and songs under the umbrella title of Sex A La Carte. The revue will be preceded by a champagne buffet, and followed by a night of dancing. Tickets are $75 per person.
The event will raise funds for the company's first season of original plays. These include Old Sins, Long Shadows by Ellen Byron; Devil's Consort by Gene Franklin Smith; and Top Dogs by Daviel Sussman.
Smith is the artistic director of the new company, which is comprised of 75 dues-paying actors and which will focus on producing original material and adaptations of literary classics.
The company's board of advisors includes such show business luminaries as Sir Ian McKellan, Debbie Reynolds, Kelsey Grammer, Hayley Mills and Cybill Shepherd, among others.
