Romy Haag, otherwise known as the German Queen of the Night, is to perform her theatre concert Schljsselgeheimnisse in Amsterdam May 1 and 2.

Romy Haag was born a man in The Netherlands, but changed her sex some years ago. With the exception of one television appearance in the 1970s, Romy Haag (her surname reflects her birthplace Den Haag) has never before performed in The Netherlands.

Haag started her career in the Paris nightclub Alcazar and owned the infamous nightclub in Berlin, "Chez Romy Haag", which was frequented by pop stars like Mick Jagger, Freddy Mercury and David Bowie. She has performed in 26 movies and for many years presented her own television show on German television.

Haag, who is sometimes compared with Marlene Dietrich, brings a concert with material from Bertold Brecht, Kurt Weill and other great classics, as well as material she has written herself. She is currently performing in the German city Baden Baden.

Romy Haag will perform her theatre concert Schljsselgeheimnisse at De Kleine Komedie in Amsterdam on May 1 and 2, 1998 at 20.15 hours. Tickets can be ordered at the box-office: +.31.20.624.0534 -- By Maxim Bezembinder
