Previews for the Off-Broadway engagement began Feb. 26, with performances currently scheduled through March 30.
Regge Life directs Ibsen's sensational 1881 play, which centers on Mrs. Alving, who in order to shield her son from inheriting anything from his late philandering father, builds an orphanage with the inheritance. However, her husband has left behind numerous secrets that haunt the family.
The production stars Joanne Camp (The Last Night of Ballyhoo) and TJ Edwards (The School for Wives) as well as John Behlmann (Journey's End), Tom Galantich (Into the Woods) and Keiana Richard (Dividing the Estate).
The design team for Ghosts includes Harry Feiner (set design), Sam Fleming (costume design), Stephen Petrilli (lighting design) and Mark Huang (sound design). Lisa Ledwich is stage manager; Kate Farrington is dramaturg.
Tickets for Ghosts are available by calling (212) 598-9802. The Pearl Theatre Company is located at 80 St. Marks Place (at First Avenue) in the East Village. For more information visit www.pearltheatre.org.
The Pearl Theatre Company's artistic director Shepard Sobel explained the mission of the troupe as such: "The Pearl produces a classical repertory because the great plays of the last 2,500 years provide a context, a perspective, by which we here in America in 2007 may see ourselves more clearly. We can — and have an obligation to — design the strength and character of the future only by knowing the character of the past."
