Peter Gill's The York Realist begins previews at the Royal Court on Jan. 4, 2002, with an opening night on Jan. 8, running to Feb. 2.
The play is, essentially, a gay love story set in York in the 1960s, during a production of the York Mystery plays: it is a meditation on art in general and, in particular, the working class theatre tradition begun by "the York Realist" - the anonymous author of the traditional plays.
Directed by the playwright, Peter Gill, designed by Hartley T A Kemp and produced by English Touring Theatre.
